Make your July 4th holiday shine with a touch of red, white and blue. I’m sharing a few patriotic projects to celebrate the American spirit in your home.
A collection of DIY 4th of July projects you can make. Celebrate with these red, white and blue home decor projects you can do yourself.
To be honest I love me some red, white and blue anytime of the year so these home decor projects aren’t just for July 4th but can be for any time of year. There’s something about a little nod to the American spirit with stars and stripes in the mix that evokes a sense of pride.
I gathered my most favorite red, white and blue projects that fit perfectly for the 4th of July:
- kids adirondack chairs
- pom pom placemat pillows
- starry side table
- patriotic denim bunting
- blue and white ticking upholstered tub chairs
- flag centerpiece
DIY Kids Adirondack Chairs
I built these kid sized adirondack chairs ages ago and my now teenagers still use them around the fire pit. They are a great size for kids (and small adults) without being cumbersome. I added a little star detail at the center back just for fun. You can get the free plans to build these adirondack chairs here.
If you’re looking for a nice addition to your backyard space these chairs might just be the answer.
Pom Pom Placemat Pillows
A little sewing project you might enjoy that’s very simple is these pom pom placemat pillows. Grab two of your favorite placemats, sandwich some pom pom trim at the edge and sew a straight line. Then fill with stuffing and sew shut, how easy and quick?! I’m loving the fun and whimsy of the pom poms and you can tailor this to fit your decor. The tutorial for this project is here.
Starry Side Table
This 4th of July project happens to be in use all year round at our home because it’s a fantastic little side table. I gave this circle side table a quick makeover with some paint and stain and then added the pretty handpainted star detail on the top. It’s slightly Americana but fits so well with our historic home. Patriotic Denim Bunting
I love a repurpose project that gives new life to otherwise worn out things. This patriotic denim bunting will always be one of my favorite repurposed ideas. I know you all have old denim jeans that probably aren’t fit for donating so you’re thinking it’s best to just throw them away. Well think again friends, I’ll show you how to make this cute denim bunting complete with gingham ruffled trim that’s a little bit country just in time for 4th of July. See how to sew the patriotic denim bunting here.
Blue & White Ticking Tub Chairs
Who doesn’t love a little blue and white ticking? If I could I would probably cover all my upholstered furniture in ticking but that might be over the top. I recently reupholstered these tub chairs using blue and white ticking and they make a great pair. Fitting for the 4th of July but also wonderful for anytime of year. This DIY project definitely involves some sewing so if you love a furniture refresh click here for the tutorial.
Flag Centerpiece
And last but not least is this very easy flag centerpiece. I actually made this project as a lollipop display holder but quickly realized it works great as a flag centerpiece too. This is a very simple project that requires minimal supplies and tools if you don’t mind drilling a few holes. Get the details on the flag centerpiece here.
