These are the days my friends and I only wish my kids were still little to enjoy projects like this. How about the cutest and easiest 18″ doll trundle bed ever? Come check out this very beginner friendly project perfectly sized for American Girl dolls.
A DIY tutorial to build an 18 inch doll size trundle bed. Make this simple day bed with trundle bed underneath to fit two dolls!
Doll sleepovers just got real with this cute project. Two beds in one! Growing up my friend Robin down the block had a day bed with a trundle underneath and I thought it was absolutely the coolest and why didn’t I have one?! Well at least the dolls can have one thanks to Ana’s brilliant plans for this week’s Handbuilt Holiday project.
I have definitely built my share of doll beds in the past but never a trundle bed. What was I waiting for?
18 Inch Doll Beds:
- cot bed
- camp bunk beds
- farmhouse style bed
- doll bunk beds
- vintage style crib
- doll crib with storage drawer
Bed Plans
Ana designed the plans to be very simple and easy. And I can attest they are 100% beginner friendly, you don’t even have to cut out the legs if you don’t have a jig saw. Just leave the side panels full and the bed still functions fine.
Mattresses:
For the mattresses I used 1″ foam cut to size then wrapped in quilt batting. Then I made a pocket with white cotton and sewed it like a pillow covering. Lastly adding the tufting with carpet thread down the middle.
