Paint: house number plaque
I’m canvasing the neighborhood. DIY your own house number plaque using a precut wood plaque and acrylic paint.
A larger plaque (12″h) in a fun royal blue with white which happens to match this friend’s mailbox.
Classic dark green with gold.
I happen to be a huge fan of the black and white version.
How to make a house number plaque:
Supplies:
– wood plaque
– acylic paint
– small paintbrush
– Helmsman clear gloss polyureathane
– metal stake
– super glue (gel is best)
– 3 – 1 1/4″ wood screws
Step 1: Sand wood plaque smooth.
Step 2: Print out number to fit plaque. Here I used Cochin font at 400 point.
Step 3: Center number on plaque and using a ballpoint pen with heavy pressure trace outline of number.
The pressure of the pen leaves an impression in the wood.
Step 4: Paint the background color. Let dry then paint the number and edge.
Step 5: Seal with multiple coats of clear gloss spray poly for exterior.
Step 6: Line up metal stake, predrill holes into metal stake.
Step 7: Apply super glue gel and secure with wood screws.
