Hooray it’s the most wonderful time of the year (and I’m not talking about Christmas)! Back to school means schedules and routine and sanity in our house and this Mommy really loves that. I also love to give the teachers a little ‘back to school’ gift so today I’m sharing these easy apple wood trays made from a pre-cut 18″ round that costs $5.
Life is good when circles are pre-cut and this wood round is a nice chunky 1″ thick. Paint it however you like and add some handles for a very cute and useful gift.
I do plan to add the teachers names to the center of each tray however we are still 5 weeks away from school starting so we don’t know which teachers we have yet.
The black is chalkboard paint in keeping with the school theme but truly you could paint any shape or pattern or even using vinyl cutouts.
I purchased the 18″ round wood pieces at The Home Depot for $5 each. There is also a larger 24″ round if you want a bigger tray.
I primed two and left the stained one natural.
Use a pencil to sketch your design and just start painting with acrylics. I sealed everything with clear Rust-Oleum Varathane Triple Thick Polyurethane in Satin.
Add handles on either side for easy carrying.
I hope you enjoyed this easy back to school gift idea. Looking for more back to school projects and gift ideas?
