Here’s an inexpensive storage solution for all those small accessories complete with a mirror on the front. How about a wall mirror with storage you can build yourself?
A DIY tutorial to build a wall mirror with storage unit. Make this double duty easy to access storage shelves with a mirror on the front!
As part of the Handbuilt Holiday series with Ana White this wall mirror with storage shelves makes a great gift idea for teenagers or adults. We’ve been sharing new gift ideas every Friday leading up to the big day. Be sure to check out 8 years worth of holiday gift ideas we’ve put together with plans for you.
Storage Solution
This wall mirror has perfect little shelves tucked behind the mirror. These shelves make a great storage spot for all the personal accessory items we tend to collect:
- beauty products
- lotions
- hair tools
- shoes
- books and more
It’s like a little compartment for your goodies. And of course you could add more shelves if you prefer, that’s the beauty of building it yourself!
Wall Mirror
Ana designed this piece with space saving in mind. It only sticks out into the room about 8 inches so it’s perfect for a bedroom wall, a hallway space, almost anywhere.
More DIY Mirror Ideas
For this wall mirror with storage you can get the plans over at Ana White’s site here. Be sure to scroll down below for build tips and process photos.
TIP #1: Build the two frame pieces using pocket holes. This will give your frame sturdy support and you can hide the pocket holes on the interior and back sides.
TIP #2: Secure the shelves to the frame using 1 1/4″ wood screws. On the front side keep the screws towards the inside edge so they will be hidden by the mirror.
TIP #3: Use a French cleat to hang your mirror. And then be sure to add bumpers on the bottom half and also secure to the wall down below so nothing moves.
