diy stenciled wood wall art
I’m participating in the 10 Days of Valentines challenge with Porch and Valspar paint whereby I was to create a diy project using marsala paint and a mystery item from Porch.
As you can see the mystery item was a stencil and this diy gal never uses stencils but I was up for the challenge.
I used the stencil in a tile like fashion to make this wood wall art which resembles a quilt. I love the intricate detail of the stencil and the delicate nature of the shapes.
If you aren’t familiar with Porch you definitely should check out their site. For anyone looking for inspiration for their dream home and to find the right professionals with referrals to get the job done Porch is the place. It’s a home improvement network on a grand scale.
This project has a little Valentine’s Day hint in the hearts that are part of the stencil pattern, I painted them gold for contrast.
As much as I love the detail of the stencil I felt the white edges were too harsh so I sanded them down a bit for a distressed look.
How to make stenciled wood wall art:
Step 1: Cut 1/4″ plywood squares (mine are 5 1/2″ square) and paint two coats Valspar Farimont Penthouse Garnet.
Step 2: Center the stencil and paint white (except the hearts paint gold).
Step 3: Drill small holes in the corners for wire.
Step 4: Sand to distress stencil a bit and clean edges of wood square.
Step 5: Slide wire through holes and twist at back to connect wood squares.
Step 6: Hang with command strips.
