Fall is practically knocking on our door so I wanted to get these plans up for this truss beam side table before the outdoor season ends. For you year round warm weather folks timing isn’t such an issue. And yes I’m very jealous that you get that extended outdoor season. I shared the truss beam coffee table awhile back and today I have the truss beam side table to complete the set.
A DIY tutorial to build a truss beam style side table. A little side table for your outdoor space that coordinates with the coffee table.
To be totally honest I only built this side table because my kids were asking for another surface to put drinks and things on and I had the wood scraps on hand.
But it turned out to be so handy and cute so I thought I’d share.
Side Table Plans
I drew up the plans with detailed step by step instructions down below. It’s a very simple and fast build and if you don’t like the chunky 4×4 legs you could easily swap out for 2x4s.

Above is the complete base. You’ll need the Kreg HD pocket hole jig for those 4×4 posts. Alternatively you could use lag bolts through the legs.
In Step 3 attach the top boards to the base from below. Then draw a 22″ circle (centered on the boards) and cut out using a jig saw.
Sand well. I opted to finish this table similar to the matching coffee table by using DecoArt Vintage Effect Wash in white.
I hope you have the perfect spot for this cute and useful side table!
