“S” is for Saddle

August 23, 2011

A saddle stool makeover.

A tag sale find at the neighbors:

After some glue, sandpaper and paint:
The woven seat was in perfect condition and truly shows it’s age beautifully.

I wanted to make the seat pop by using a contrasting color on the wood parts.

Here’s how I did it:

1. Glue and firm up legs.
Sand off old paint and gunk.

2. Painted 3 coats Behr tile red.

3. Sanded to distress.
Stained with Minwax dark walnut.
Sealed with satin spray poly.

Love the campy old feel.

Now to find a spot in our home.
