Looking for a vintage, weathered finish that’s easy to apply and available in many colors? I just painted my outdoor coffee table using DecoArt’s Vintage Effect Wash in white and I’m extremely happy with the results.
This color wash paint goes on super smooth and easy with great coverage. I painted this outdoor table over 3 weeks ago before taking these photos and the finish hasn’t faded one bit. This table stays outside in hot sun, humidity and rain so I expect the finish will age a bit in the elements but so far it’s like new.
The process of using Vintage Effect Wash is extremely simple. I built this truss style coffee table using pressure treated lumber then sanded well. Treated lumber tends to have a slight green tinge to it but you would never know it because the Vintage Effect Wash covers so well.
Be sure to shake the container well before opening. For this average sized coffee table I used almost two – 8 fl oz. bottles of Vintage Effect Wash in white.
I used a flat brush to apply the paint going with the grain and wiping any excess with a cloth.
I only applied one coat and you can see the coverage is amazing while still allowing the wood grain to peek through.
To enhance that weathered, vintage feel I sanded down the table with 150 grit sandpaper making sure to knock off all the edges.
Because my table is outdoors I took the additional step to seal the paint using DecoArt Dura Clear Ultra Matte varnish.
DecoArt Vintage Effect Wash is available now at JoAnn in these beautiful colors and more to come!
Do you have a piece in your home that could benefit from a vintage look?
