DIY Princess & the Pea Play Bed

December 13, 2013

Build: diy princess & the pea play bed
It’s Friday and Ana White and I have teamed up again to bring you another gift build, a project you can build using Ana’s free plans just in time for the holidays.
Today we’re sharing the cutest little doll bed you ever did see.
It’s the princess and the pea bed with beautiful styling and fairytale details:

Inspired by Olive & Cocoa’s Princess & the Pea Play Set:

I built this version from 1/2″ mdf scraps and added some easy to sew mattresses:

The princess fabric doll is diy too.
You can see the full tutorial and link to free pattern here.
The small scale of the doll bed (12″l x 4 1/2″w) makes it easily manageable for young kids.

How to build a princess & the pea play bed:
1. Follow Ana’s plans and make wood cuts.
I choose to use 1/2″ mdf – it’s more forgiving with a jig saw.
2. Draw lines for detailed cutouts:

3. Construct using glue and finish nails.  Sand.
4. Prime (spray paint is your best bet). Sand.

5. Paint two coats sanding in between.
Be sure to check back next week as we have 3 more super easy and fast builds that you can definitely make in time for the big day.

I just saw this in the Olive & Cocoa catalog and loved it! I'm going to get my husband to help me make this for our daughter, thanks so much!
