Milwaukee Chainsaw

April 10, 2019

*This post is sponsored by The Home Depot.

Spring cleaning has taken on a whole new meaning now that I’m armed with a chainsaw.  Give me all the trees and logs!  This Milwaukee chainsaw is battery powered but capable of generating the power and performance of a gas engine.

cutting log with chainsaw

A tool review of the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 16 inch chainsaw. This brushless, cordless battery operated chainsaw will have you chopping all the trees!

To be completely honest I’ve never operated a chainsaw before in my life because they seemed a bit intimidating.  But one cut with this Milwaukee chainsaw and I’m hooked!  I feel totally in control through the entire cut.  Also worth noting this chainsaw weighs about 11 pounds which makes it very manageable and easy to maneuver.

I’m busy cleaning up the yard to make way for a new shed and this old wood post has to go.  Chopping up this old post was the perfect time to use the chainsaw.  Pop in a M18 redlithium high output 12.0 battery and I was at full throttle in under 1 second.  You can use any M18 battery pack with this chainsaw but the high output 12.0 pack provides 50% more power and runs 50% cooler versus standard packs.  In addition Milwaukee’s superior battery pack construction provides the best protection against harsh jobsite conditions like dust, dirt and moisture.

I’m throughly impressed with the performance of this chainsaw.  The brushless motor maintains speed without bogging down under heavy loads to outperform small gas engines.  Want to see it in action?  Check my Instagram post here for video footage to see how quickly I cut up that post using the chainsaw.

filling oil into chainsaw

Set up is easy.  Unpack the chainsaw from the box and fill the oil reservoir with chain oil (not included).  Then insert a battery and pull the trigger for at least 30 seconds.  The automatic oiler will maintain proper chain lubrication and allows for increased productivity since you won’t be stopping for oil very often.  In addition the scrench is secured onboard should you need to make any chain tension adjustments.

The Milwaukee chainsaw makes spring clean up a breeze:

  • variable speed trigger for full control
  • 16 in. Oregon bar and chain
  • compatible with over 150 M18 battery operated tools
  • package includes: (1) M18 FUEL 16 in. chainsaw, (1) 16 in. Oregon bar and chain, (1) scrench

Could your yard benefit from some chainsaw action?  Give the Milwaukee brushless cordless chainsaw a whirl and you’ll be cutting up all the logs and trees in site!
