A makeover in the Master Bedroom, nothing major just fresh paint, new baseboards and carpet all led to a little spruce up.
And now:
My kids helped with the painting:
We put up the choices:
In the end I used Benjamin Moore constellation:
We live in a cape style house which makes for multiple roof angles.
Here’s one of those funky spots, amazing what a little paint can do:
The mirror was by far the most fun project in this room, you can read the complete how-to in my post here.
Which leads us back to the headboard made from old shutters:
Anything was an upgrade from this:
And the painted Minnesota tribute sign celebrating my home state:
The sconces are meant for exterior use and come hard wired but you can see how I modified them to be plug-in style in my post here.
And lastly the nightstands got a fresh coat of paint in a vibrant blue:
I painted these little monogrammed bins, one for me and one for him:
Pull back a bit and you can see the wonky shape of our room:
But we love having the wide open space in the middle, it eases congestion and the kids make use of it as well:
The window nook creates the perfect spot for a desk which came with the house but originally was in the kids room not being used so I swiped it for my own vanity area.
(You can see that makeover here.)
And of course all the window trim and doors were painted white and all the hardware changed to oil rubbed bronze to finally match the downstairs.
Bye bye classy brassy:
Love the contrast between the ORB hardware and white, especially in the hallway where five doors all collide in a tiny landing:
There you have it, nothing fancy, plain and simple, fresh and updated.
it looks beautiful! i love the constellation color- lovely! and we have a cape cod with nooks, and we have a dormer nook like yours… i love the look of the desk there. do you use it? i am trying to figure out if i would use it if i had it there, but i don't know if i would… but i can't think of what to do with that space!
What a lovely transformation. I love the idea of a vanity right in front of the window. No garish makeup surprises! We have old bronze doorknobs that have darkened over time and I, too, like the contrast with white trim. I even found a ceiling fan at Lowe's (blades painted white) that has ORB fittings and 4 acorn lights for a vintage look.
I always get inspired when I visit your blog. Thanks for sharing all your great ideas!
Gorgeous transformation. Love all the space you have. The new color is wonderful and your accessories are perfect. Great job. Hugs, Marty
Very pretty! The new color in your bedroom is very fresh. And I love the sign you made for above your bed.
Oooooh I love your redo. But M is for Minnesota! I absolutely love the 10,000 lakes sign above the bed. Where did you find it? I have to find one similar….
Your bedroom is so pretty! The color you chose is so pretty and peaceful. What's great is that so much of what's in the room are things you've made or painted. It adds a really personal stamp to it.
I always wanted an attic bedroom. I imagined it looking a lot like your bedroom!
Gorgeous transformation! I love it all! I love the shutters the most I think. 🙂 Great job!

So pretty! Great choice on the paint color. It looks awesome.
This is beautiful! Love the blue night stand!
Looks like a fair bit of work but so worth it! What a lovely large space too, and unique with all the angles. Love the contrast of the knobs and white doors and we hope to say bye bye to our shiny brass one day too.
GREAT job JAMIE!

I love it! What a beautiful transformation, Jamie! Fresh and simple and comfortable and peaceful. Great job!
I adore the Minnesota sign! Being a Minnesota girl myself (Willmar, and then St.Paul), I love anything that reminds me of Mn. I might have to make myself a sign like yours 🙂 The whole room is beautiful–lovely job!
