DIY Wood Manger

December 6, 2013

Build: diy manger
It’s Friday and I’m back again with new gift build plans from Ana White.
Today we’re sharing a diy manger:
Ana made the plans super simple you can build it start to finish in about an hour.
And even better it only costs about $3 in lumber!!
I used almost two cedar fence planks to construct this manger which kept the materials cost very inexpensive.

And just in case you missed any of the previous weeks handmade holiday builds:
Looking for the handmade holiday gift plans?
See all the previous weeks builds and plans here.
The manger is rather simple on it’s own so you’ll want to add some nativity figures.
I’ve got you covered with diy wood nativity figures, place these wood characters inside and you have the cutest kid friendly manger scene:
Check my post here for all the details on how to make the nativity figures from wood scraps.
This manger was inspired by Pottery Barn Kids nativity scene:

Their version is a bit more pricey at $99 but it does include the felt figures.
I happen to like the simplicity of our diy manger and nativity people:

How to build a manger:

1. Follow Ana’s plans here for the cuts and construction.

2. Add the back panel then mark your window opening:

Use a jig saw to cut out the window.
3. If you want to get really fancy trim out the window opening with L shaped moulding.
Cut 4 pieces to fit mitering the corners at 45 degrees then glue in place:

Be sure to stop by next Friday for another new build plan, we’ll keep them coming until the big day!

Holy cow!!! You have been busy. And I love this project so much. So much better than the plastic Made in China versions.
