Balance Board

June 22, 2015

Summer is finally here and I’ll do anything to keep my kids busy outside so today I’m sharing this diy balance board made from scrap wood.  I can’t take full credit for this project, I found my inspiration here, but I did write up plans for my version below.

I made quite a few of these for birthday gifts last week and a few to keep for my kids.  A little paint to dazzle up the plywood top.

I definitely recommend using this balance board outside or on a rug/carpeted surface.
Click here for a PDF version of these plans.
Supplies:

2 – 2×4 @ 10” (rockers)
1 – 2×3 @ 13” (rocker
support)
1 – ¾” plywood @ 13” x 19”
wood glue

3” & 2” wood screws

Step 1: Using a jigsaw cut arched
rocker shape.  Make 2.

Predrill countersunk holes for screws at center.

Step 2: Attach rockers to center
support using glue and 3” countersunk screws.

Step 3: Apply glue and layout rocker
piece onto plywood top centering on all sides.
Step 4: Carefully flip over and
attach top using 2” countersunk screws.

Sand well and paint as desired.

This is such a fun idea! I think my husband would love it as much as my son.

My 7 year old daughter and I built one of these this morning. She loves it! Thanks for the idea!

It was such a hit that my 14 year old son built one this evening.

I made one of these and both adults and kids can't get enough. We have even made up games to play with the board. Great idea and great free plans! Easy to build no matter how big or small you want the board!

Thank you for sharing these! especially the balance board. I'm in Physical Therapy now and I use these at the center where I go. Now I can make one and use it at home. Thank you again!!
