“B” is for Breezy

October 17, 2011

Handpainted Breezy Point themed wedding plaque.

Complete with little red wagon:

Cait asked if I could make something similar to my previous NYC wedding plaque (see it here) but she wanted a Breezy Point scene.
I have never been to Breezy Point so I took all my inspiration from photos:

The lighthouse:

And the bridge:

Marine Parkway Bridge.

I did a quick sketch:

Cait approved and the finished piece is this:
Complete with the lighthouse:
And the bridge:
Here’s a few progress pics:

1. Cut 1/2″ plywood with jigsaw:
Prime.
2. Two coats BM Harbor Haze for the background.
Using very thin paint lay out the design:
3.  Fill in larger shapes with color and build up scene:
4. Sand edges lightly to distress, apply Minwax Ipswich Pine stain.
Seal with satin poly.
Attach top and bottom lettering pieces with screw eyes.
These newlyweds now have a sweet memory not only of their wedding day but all those lazy beach weekends.
