Ana White and I are finishing up the Handmade Holiday series with a gift to build for the littlest ones. You still have plenty of time to construct this diy baby gym so no excuses.
Ana has the plans for this modern and sleek baby gym and I did the build in less than one hour. One 3/4″ handy panel (2′ x 4′) and 4 screws are all the supplies you need to make this gift:
Attach the hanging critters through the loop hole.
This baby gym is sturdy and strong but still lightweight and portable. If I still had a baby in the house I would definitely be keeping this baby gym!
We modeled our diy baby gym after the Land of Nod Wee Workout:
Beautiful as it may be their version costs $99. You can build this baby gym for about $20 in plywood or you might even have some scrap pieces lying around.
How to build a diy baby gym:
Use Ana’s plans here.
Step 1: Sketch layout onto handy panel. I made a paper template for 1/2 of one curved side piece then traced the template to replicate the shape and keep the curved pieces exactly the same.
Step 2: Cut out pieces using a jig saw. Sand well and putty any open gaps.
Step 3: Using a 1″ spade but make 3 holes in top cross piece for hanging critters.
Step 4: Attach top cross piece to sides. Use glue and be sure to predrill and countersink your screws.
Sand well.
A huge thank you to Ana White for making this year’s Handmade Holiday series a success. With Ana’s plans you can build all of your holiday gifts big and small.

This is so great! And so much better than anything you can find at the toy store.

Hi there, love this and would like to make, but where does one find the critters? I love that your critters have wooden rings attached at the bottom also.

@StephanieD the critters with wooden rings are Infantino brand and I found them at Buy Buy Baby. Good luck with you project!
