Happy Labor Day friends! We’re gearing up for the next DIY Workshop at The Home Depot where we will be building a hanging planter. Today I’m sharing my custom version of the hanging planter and I’ve got the free plans down below to build your own.
I built this version using cedar boards and it’s sized just right for a pail of mums.

Below are step by step instructions to build my custom version of the hanging planter.
Materials:
- 2 – 1x2x8 cedar boards
- 1 – 2×6 @ 5 ½”l scrap piece
treated fir - wood glue
- 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws
- 1 1/4″ finish nails
- 2” wood screws

Always use proper safety measures when operating power tools.
Step 1: Attach
base cross pieces to base using wood glue and 1 ¼” finish nails.

Step 3: Make
top cross piece using pocket holes and attach short pieces to long piece using
wood glue and 1 ¼” pocket hole screws.
Attach center hanging hook.

Step 4:
Attach top
to sides using wood glue and 2” countersunk screws.
