Spring is just around the corner which means it’s time to add some fresh decor in hopes of willing that warmer weather our way. In the spirit of less is more, I’m keeping our Spring mantel uncluttered. I made a simple wreath and I’m letting it do all the talking in our primitive farmhouse dining room. It’s a bit minimal as far as decor but I think it’s best with nothing else to distract from the bright and beautiful painted flowers.
An uncluttered Spring mantel featuring a scroll saw floral wreath and 24 more amazing Spring mantels you don’t want to miss. So many fresh ideas definitely worth a look.
A special thanks to Krista at The Happy Housie for putting together the most magnificent Spring mantel blog hop. She graciously let me join in the fun and I’m honored to be among all this eye candy!
There’s so many wonderfully decorated mantels and vignettes full of inspirational ideas you don’t want to miss any! I’ve included links to each and every amazing post down below. But first a few more detailed photos of my Spring mantel.
I made this wood wreath on my scroll saw and cut each and every little piece. I highly recommend this tool if you want to make any sort of decorative small art work. Draw a pattern or find your favorite free clip art and you can cut almost anything on the scroll saw.
I painted all the pieces in bright, cheery Spring colors to make the wreath come to life. Our antique dining room from 1740 is completely neutral with white walls and wood tones which plays off so beautifully against the fresh colors of the wreath.
You can never go wrong with navy gingham so I used a piece of fabric I had on hand as the backdrop for my wreath. How fun would it be to set the whole table in this palette? If only I had little decorating elves to come do it for me!
I desperately wanted to stick my finger in the photo for scale but alas my nails are all chewed and scruffy. I’ll just tell you that those little teeny tiny light pink buds on the end of that stem are smaller than a pea. I shared over on Instragram stories as I was cutting out these cuties, be sure to follow me there for behind the scenes first looks.
Stepping back in the dining room you really get a sense for the contrast between the old and new. I’ve never been know to create too much drama with my decor but I think this just might be a first.

Thanks Laura, you’re right about the time which actually left little time for decorating on the mantel but I’m loving it plain and simple. Cheers to Spring!
