Stair Makeover

August 18, 2010

Stairs that lead directly to 1985 in our house.  Barf.

The stairs made it into the kitchen remodel.  Since the wood floors on the entire first floor were being redone we had to include the stairs.  The stairs lead directly to the 2nd floor which hasn’t been updated since about 1985 with the offwhite trim and doors, brass doorknobs everywhere and 1950s pink bathroom tile.  It will remain that way for awhile but I thought I would show the much improved stairs in all their glory.

Dated staircase makeover
And now, no carpet, all white semi gloss trim, refinished wood and new railing:

And let’s see the railing up close.

Hope you like the new look as much as I do!

I realize this is an old post, but having found your site from Ana White's blog I'm spending way too much time looking at all your projects. Wow!!

Did you just sand off the finish on these stairs before your painted and stained? The difference is amazing. I just love them!
