A tiny house dollhouse is fun but let’s make it even better with convertible furniture just like what you would find in an actual tiny house. Ana White and I combined forces to come up with a few dollhouse size convertible furniture pieces for the tiny house.
A DIY tutorial to build tiny house convertible furniture. Perfect for the Barbie size tiny house or any 1:6 scale dollhouse.
We outfitted the tiny house dollhouse with a few convertible furniture pieces and believe me they are worth the effort. Up first is this amazing sofa that flips down to become a bed.
The plans for the sofa are included in the tiny house dollhouse post here but before you go below are three more dollhouse convertible furniture projects you don’t want to miss.
I’m sharing convertible furniture plans for the following:
- kitchen cabinets
- dining chairs
- shower
- dining table
- bench
- nightstand
Down below those unassuming kitchen cabinets are actually dining chairs! They’re a little plain now but you could fancy them up with a bit of trim, hardware detail or paint. They slide right under the countertop to look like cabinets and easily pull out when you need chairs.
I stacked 1×3 scraps on top of each other to create the seat and then tacked on a back made from 1/4″ plywood. Stack the seat pieces upside down using wood glue and 1 1/4″ finish nails for every layer then add the back with wood glue and 3/4″ finish nails.
Barbie fits great in these tiny house dining chairs (except my Barbie’s knees don’t bend ;), hopefully you have a bendable Barbie). She’s all ready for Christmas dinner at her beautiful (plexi)glass dining table.
The dining table happens to also be convertible. It actually functions as the shower – which is the real reason for the plexiglass – but it makes a cool dining table top as well.
This is a very simple table (or shower) made from scraps. Use what you have on hand just be sure to glue and make it stable. Also predrill holes in the plexiglass for a bit of hot glue and nails.
I’m dying to make a fun table setting from wood scraps on my scroll saw but alas no time right now. Imagine placemats, dishes and all the fun play food!
The last tiny house dollhouse convertible furniture piece is a very simple bench that also functions as a nightstand. Basic 1×3 scraps for this little bitty and you have a nice bench for the porch or a nightstand for beside the bed.
Follow the dimensions below and use wood glue and 1 1/4″ finish nails to construct this cutie. You could also easily make this longer for a coffee table size.
I hope you enjoyed this tiny house dollhouse convertible furniture as much as I enjoyed constructing all the pieces. Honestly if I had more time I would create more fun pieces to add for hours of play. Please be sure to share your projects with us over on social media. We love seeing how readers create our projects and plans for your family and friends.
