It’s a Christmas morning table today with a touch of gingerbread.
Hello to all you readers coming from Stacy Risenmany’s tablescape with beautiful greenery! Eight diy bloggers are sharing their holiday tables in a blog tour and you’ll want to stop by each one for amazing inspiration and diy projects.
I went simple this year and somewhere along October decided that I needed more gingerbread men in my decorations so why not place cards? The stained scrap plywood looks almost like gingerbread I could eat it!
We’ve never had Christmas morning breakfast in the Living Room but this year will be different. It’s the most cozy room in our home, it wraps around you like a cabin with the cedar shutters and fireplace so it’s the perfect spot for cinnamon rolls, eggs and bacon.
I made the centerpieces using scrap cedar 1×4 and those little evergreens were $5 at Whole Foods back in early November. The candles are French yogurt containers with epsom salt and a hannukah candle.
The gingerbread baking co. sign is also a diy project I made earlier this Fall but haven’t posted about it yet. Just planked wood and cut out the curve with a jigsaw then painted the lettering.
You may remember the mantle from last year when I repurposed stair spindles into this massive candle display. The pop of red up on the mantle is great.
The hanging lanterns are also diy project. We don’t have any ceiling lights in this room so adding a bit of focus up high helps.
To make the gingerbread men find a free clip art design that you like, print it out to size then cut out and trace onto 1/4″ plywood. Cut out the shape using a scroll saw.
Paint as desired, I use gloss enamel to prevent the stain from sticking to the paint:
Stain the plywood to look like gingerbread, seal with clear satin poly.
I hope you enjoyed my Christmas morning table and feel inspired to create your own table.

Love love love everything about your tablescape. I had to laugh because I thought those gingerbread men were real cookies on Instagram. You are sneaky! I also can't stop staring at those hanging lanterns, what a cool idea. Thanks for joining the tour.

Jaime, I love how cozy and inviting your living room looks, and yes, it's totally okay to have breakfast in the living room at Christmas or even at any other time. Those gingerbread men are the cutest, I need to make some next year. I kept on staring at all your diy projects… the gingerbread sign, the lanterns, the candle display… Love it all!
