Four Candy Free DIY Valentines

January 7, 2015

Valentine’s Day is sweet enough on it’s on without all the extra added candy.  Give your friends and classmates a handmade valentine that’s sweet but without all the sugar.  I’ve rounded up four of my DIY candy free valentine project ideas you can make and give to everyone.

A collection of four candy free DIY valentines to make for your friends and classmates. Valentine’s Day treats without all the sugar and dye.

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and every year I try to come up with handmade valentines for my kids classmates that don’t involve candy.  I know for certain there will be tons of candy given out so I aim to make a valentine that’s candy free.  Below are four candy free valentine ideas.

#1: Mini zippered pouch:

The cutest candy free valentine goody bag made from drop cloth fabric and cotton gingham.  This is obviously a sewing project but I say get over your zipper fears and make these for all those classmates!  They will love the zipper pouch for coins, cards and small bits.  Get the tutorial here.

#2: Chalkboard valentine:

A personal chalkboard to hang anywhere made from inexpensive chipboard cut outs from the craft store and chalk paint.  Then attach a piece of chalk and write your favorite valentine message.  See how I made these here.

#3: Pencil holder valentine:

Scrap wood lovers this candy free valentine is for you!  Two pieces of scrap wood is all it takes to make these super cute pencil holders.  I added mini red pencils for Valentine’s Day but they will fit any regular sized pencil.  Get all the details for my favorite valentines here.

#4: Simple reusable goody bags:

Last but not least is another goody bag idea made from drop cloth fabric with a simple heart appliquéd to the front.  Two seams is all it takes to stitch up these cuties then just fold over the top, fill with a small gift and clip closed.  Details here.
