“B” is for Biscuits

May 6, 2011

A handpainted biscuit sign.

(And some real biscuits too.)

This sign measures 24″w x 10″h.

My inspiration came from Maggie at Midwestern Sewing Girl.  She had taken this image:

image from Pinterest

And painted it on a rug:

Click here for Maggie’s full post about her rug.

I loved the image so much I painted it on a sign:

Here’s a little bit of the process:
1. Primed and painted old wooden door piece.
2. Printed letters using fonts to mimic original sign, lay out on wood:
3. Trace the letters and paint (first coat Robin’s Egg blue).

4. Paint 2nd layer, off white.

5. Sand to distress (by hand with 220 grit), stain with Antique Brown, seal with poly.

This one is going to the shop space.

This would look so cute in my farm house! I might need to take this idea and run with it. I wonder if I could make a wall of signs like this?? Hmmm….

Found your blog from Tatertots and Jello link up party. Would love for you to stop by my blog!

    Have a great weekend.

I love vintage signs! You did an amazing job (as usual)! I just made my first wood sign for mom for Mother's Day and now I can't wait to make one for 'me'!

    Have a wonderful weekend, Jaime!
