Want to add a touch of fun and whimsy to your outdoor space for the holidays? Surprise those little ones with a Santa STOP here post made from easy to find wood parts and classic holiday paint colors. I’m sharing the free plans to make this Santa stop here sign post down below.
Finish the sign post however you like, I choose a swirling stripe pattern indicative of a candy cane. Then I printed out the lettering and handpainted using the outline. You could also make a stencil using a vinyl cutting machine.

I opted to prime everything below the post cap. I used pressure treated lumber for this project so priming helps create an opaque background for the different paint colors especially helping to keep white white.
Tape off everything below the post cap with a plastic bag and spray paint the post cap and finial with metallic gold.
To mark the angled stripes on the post use a quilting ruler and the 30 degree angle grid.
Use blue painters tape to mask off portions as you go along making the stripes.
For the STOP sign I printed out lettering using this document. Center the lettering on the sign and trace with ballpoint pen to create an indent.
Paint on and inside the lines. Be sure to use exterior friendly paint like DecoArt Americana Outdoor Living.
Hope you enjoyed this project and have just the perfect someone to make it for. Please be sure to share on social media and tag me when you post.
