We love and appreciate our teachers more than words can say. Celebrate teacher appreciation day by giving a sweet little gift of a velcro pouch complete with an apple at center front.
A cotton pouch made from drop cloth with cute red apple applique at center front. Sewn in velcro closure secures pouch closed.
I made these apple pouches awhile back for my daughter’s teachers. They are very similar to the ruffled pouches I had previously made.
These drop cloth pouches measure about 7″w x 6″h, just large enough for all those loose things in your purse.
I lined the interior with a cotton apple print fabric, fitting for a teacher gift.
These pouches close with velcro. The velcro is sewn into the interior as an alternative to a zipper. A zipper is a tad bit more involved to insert however it’s probably a bit more functional and easier to use than velcro. If you’re looking for a zippered pouch tutorial click here.
Because this pouch is made from drop cloth and cotton fabrics it is fully washable should it get dirty.
To make the apple shape find a free pattern on google then print out to your desired size. Cut out the apple shape using the pattern pinned to red cotton fabric. Use double sided fusible webbing and an iron to attach the apple to the pouch. Once the apple is fused in position sew a zig zag stitch around the edge to seal the cut edges.
This drop cloth pouch makes a great gift bag for a gift card or small treat. Once you fill the pouch wrap the whole gift in clear cellophane and tie shut with a coordinating ribbon.
A little something utilitarian for the teachers to show how much we care and need them.

As a former teacher, I would have loved to receive such a thoughtful gift. I lost my pouch for my Blackberry and I was thinking that this would work as a pouch. So clever!

SO Sweet!
I just started a linky party this past Tuesday. It was a great success with over 50 link ups! I would love it if you would participate next week! It's called $10 Tuesdays and it's for things that cost less than $10 and take 20-30 mins (ish) to complete. I love inexpensive and quick projects and I'm guessing others will too 😉 Thanks so much for considering.
