This post about exterior cedar planters is sponsored by The Home Depot. Cedar wood has my heart. The smell, the grain and even the texture gives me the feeling of a warm, cozy blanket. These exterior cedar planters I built for a friend’s wedding reception were meant to evoke that yummy feeling at the entry of the event space. They add a woodsy, rustic charm to an otherwise sleek exterior.

A huge thank you to my friends at The Home Depot for partnering with me on this wedding decor. I’m over on The Home Depot blog sharing the free plans and step by step details to build these wood planters.
These planters were a wonderful addition to this wedding space but they would also make a great outdoor planter for your home. If you have the space they would look great on either side of your front door or how about your patio space?

I used pocket hole joinery for the side panels and then attached everything to 2×3 studs for the legs. I choose to leave these planters natural but you could definitely apply stain or polyurethane to enhance the finish.
Outdoor Decor:
- patio space
- flanking your front door entrance
- poolside – great for flowers or low shrubs too!
We used them to here to create a beautiful warm welcome to this wedding reception especially against the wet, cold snow! Do you have an outdoor space looking for a little warmth? Get building these lovely exterior cedar planters today and you’ll be ready for the outdoor season.
