My workshop goes where ever I go, I’m forever toting tools around to various locations where ever I happen to be working. Today’s tool post celebrates two workshop helpers who are completely portable, fit in most toolboxes and provide endless assistance in terms of functionality for various projects.
Two workshop helpers you want by your side: the Bosch laser level and the Ridgid compact radio. These tools go the distance with user friendly features.
Music makes everything better right? Anytime you can play background jams while working away makes the project all that much more enjoyable. Just look at the awesome size of this Ridgid 18V radio with bluetooth:
The compact design is perfect for use on any jobsite area. I’ve been taking this radio with me everywhere I go! Unlike the larger Dewalt radio this little guy is much easier to transport and manage. It runs off of the same Ridgid 18V batteries you use for your tools and two AAA batteries to keep the clock and radio station presets saved.
This radio has all the fun features including the ability to be remotely controlled using the Ridgid radio app. Bluetooth wireless technology makes it possible for you to stream music, set alarms and control the radio all using your smartphone. Or you can always use the onboard buttons and go old school like me :).
It’s also equipped with a USB port for charging or using an MP3 player, so swanky!
For those of us who work outdoors a lot like myself the Ridgid compact radio is weather resistant although I wouldn’t leave it out in the rain and snow. The foldable and rotatable antenna allows for clear reception which is really helpful when I’m deep inside the stone of our basement.
As with all Ridgid products it is backed by the lifetime service agreement which includes free parts and service for life with registration.
The Ridgid 18V compact radio with bluetooth is a wonderful workshop helper and would make a great addition to any shop space, wherever you’re working.
Another awesome help in the workshop is this Bosch laser level. If you’ve ever tried measuring a space, especially a larger space with angles, this laser will soon be your new best friend. For starters it has a 165 foot range with a bazillion different ways to measure almost any situation.
In that center blue circle are all the function options: area, distance, length, volume, pitch angle, level and more. And it comes with a handy reference guide for many basic scenarios to help you get the measurements you need. Quite powerful for it’s little handy pocket size design.
You can see above the surface I placed the level on is not precisely level, it’s off by almost 1 degree. Also note the color display with back lighting! This Bosch GLM 50 CX laser level truly is equipped with an array of features and bluetooth technology that’s compatible with the free Bosch app (MeasureOn).
The app allows you to digitally transfer measurements to a smartphone or tablet in order to create digital floor plans.
When taking measurements this Bosch laser level lets you determine within a 1/16 of an inch exactly where you want the measurement to begin. Above you can see the three options, from the bottom right corner, from the upper right corner or the middle depending on your situation.
Although hard to photograph the laser is very strong and extremely precise. Above you can see both the level at -.3 and the distance of 6 1/32″ to the wall from the upper right corner of the device. This Bosch laser level also includes a stakeout measurement that pinpoints recurring marks along a line, e.g. every 6 in or whatever your distance needs to be.
The packaging includes the device itself, two AAA batteries, a hand strap, target cards, an ID sticker and a sturdy pouch where you can store the level safely will it’s bonking around in your toolbox. The pouch is snug but it does have a nice velcro closure:
Whether you’re working in the shop or out and about these two workshop helpers are bound to provide an extra hand. Both the Ridgid compact radio and the Bosch laser level are two great tools to consider for your workshop.
