The daily routine of life is all about the small things, the little bits that make life flow easier. I’ll call them sidekicks because without them by my side in the workshop I’m not as effective or productive. These sidekicks in the workshop are small but mighty additions to my tool arsenal and warrant a little love.
Everyone loves a good organizer and this Dewalt 20-compartment pro small parts organizer gets all the heart eyes. Portable with a place for everything and everything in its place, that’s winning.
The removable dividers are optimal for hand tools and small parts. I do wish you could make a long skinny compartment for pencils etc so the dividers are a little bit limiting but still function beautifully.
I had stacks of miscellaneous hardware cluttering up my shelf before and now they all fit seamlessly into the Dewalt small parts organizer. I still need to add labels because no organizer is complete with a little label but for now it’s looking sharp!
The clear polycarbonate durable lid allows you to easily see what’s inside each compartment and the carry handle is great for mobility. The yellow side latches enable this unit to stack onto other Dewalt organizer units so you could easily keep all your hardware parts and small tools in one convenient stack.
From organizing all the things to actually making things, I wear gloves about 75% of the year until it gets really hot and then only when I’m handling rough lumber. Gloves are definitely always by my side and I think most workshops use gloves consistently.
Have you ever tried using your phone while wearing work gloves? Doesn’t work out so great but these Milwaukee performance work gloves feature Smartswipe fingertips, knuckles and palms so you can use your phone or any touch screen without taking off your gloves. Genius!
I’m wearing a size large here and they are a little bulky but still very durable and comfortable. My next pair will definitely be a size medium.
And I always keep a pair of gloves in my trunk for loading and unloading lumber, the last thing you want is a nagging splinter while out running errands.
My last sidekick in the workshop and beyond are these HDX batteries. It goes without saying but batteries are a common household necessity and something you should always have on hand.
