This post is sponsored by The Home Depot. The absolute number one tool I recommend for anyone wanting to tackle projects is a miter saw. This tool is invaluable when making things with wood and I use it on nearly every building project.
A tool review of the DeWalt 12″ double bevel sliding compound miter saw and the 20V Max bluetooth speaker. Two DeWalt tools I rely on heavily.
This miter saw is best for someone who has a bit of experience and desires a miter saw that can handle wider cuts, miters up to 60 degree and bevels. If you’re looking to upgrade your beginner chop saw this is a great option with lots of versatility. DeWalt designed the back fence on this saw to handle straight cuts on boards all the way up to 2 x 14 and 45 degree cuts on 2 x 10. If you’ve ever had to make a miter cut on a 2 x 10 with a circular saw then you know how wonderful having the sliding depth can be.
I’ve been using this Dewalt 12″ compound miter saw since last Spring and I absolutely love it.
Miter Saw Features:
- tall sliding sliding fences support crown molding up to 7 1/2″ nested and base molding up to 6 3/4″ vertically
- fences slide out of the way for bevel cuts
- saw swings both ways for bevels giving you greater flexibility and ease when making cuts
The large, solid knob at the rear makes adjusting the bevel easy and precise while locking the saw at your desired angle.
For making mitered cuts this saw has an adjustable stainless steel detent plate with 10 positive stops which ensures cutting accuracy. It’s capable of miters up to 60 degrees to the right and 50 degrees to the left providing increased capacity.
The easy grip cam lock miter handle with detent override delivers quick and accurate miter angles. Simply depress the lever and pull up on the handle. Then rotate the plate to the desired miter and pull down on the handle to secure the plate in position.
This Dewalt 12″ compound miter saw is designed with a powerful 15 Amp, 3800 RPM motor that delivers extended power and durability. It stores in a compact position and at 56 pounds it’s easily transportable for storage.
As you may know I work outdoors so my miter saw needs to be completely portable. That is why I use the Dewalt rolling miter saw stand. This stand allows me to easily transport the miter saw up and down three steps from my basement storage area.
Rolling Stand Features:
- 3-position pneumatic-assisted raising and lowering
- Durable tubular steel construction supports up to 300 lbs.
- Rubber grip wheels provide for easy portability
Together this Dewalt combination is the lifeblood of my workshop. If I had any complaints about this set up it would be that the dust collection bag on the miter saw is too small. That’s a minor issue and maybe I just need to remember to empty it more often.
In addition to the miter saw I am loving this new sidekick of a tool – the Dewalt bluetooth speaker. This speaker can run off any of the Dewalt batteries.
Power Source Options:
- 12V
- 20V
- flexvolt packs
- AC current with the power cord
This speaker is designed to be the most versatile bluetooth speaker on the market with connectivity up to 100 ft. I’m loving the compact size and light weight. The sound is pretty awesome considering the size. I would argue this speaker has much better sound quality than the larger Dewalt bluetooth radio and charger featured here.
You can see it’s got a rugged and durable design capable of withstanding tough job site conditions. The top ledge is perfect for your mobile phone. Or you can use the handle as a stand for the phone. On a full 20V battery you can run this speaker for up to 15 hours.
Behind that black rubber sealed flap is a USB port and headphones port if you desire. Naturally this little speaker has been going everywhere with me, it’s the best little partner to keep me company.
