“Add it to the shopping list.”
I heard myself saying this repeatedly to my kids this summer. To which they would respond,
“But where is the shopping list?”
and then I would have to give detailed instructions such as on the counter next to the tissue box or some other guided information. By the time I was done explaining where the shopping list was they would have forgotten what they wanted to add to the list. And then they would get mad at me for not buying said item at the store when it wasn’t even on the list to begin with.
I’m finally got off this merry-go-round by making a wood and leather shopping list board with a paper roll. It’s perfectly placed smack between the refrigerator and pantry and hung low enough so all my kids can reach it.
I’ll show you how to make this wood and leather shopping list board down below.
Everyone can add whatever their little heart desires to the shopping list now.
And I fancied it up by using leather straps made from a belt which holds the paper in place:
The paper is a 3″ wide adding machine paper roll, wide enough to write a grocery list on and not be obnoxious hanging on the wall.
The paper roll is hung using a dowel and screw eyes. Which makes the perfect resting ledge for a pencil on top!
Materials List:
1 – 3/4″ plywood @ 5 3/4″w x 14″l (back board)
2 – 1″ square dowel @ 1″l (blocks)
2 – #8 screw eyes
1 – 3/16″ dowel @ 5 1/4″l (paper roll holder)
2 – leather straps @ 5″l x 1/2″w
Step 1: Attach square wood dowel pieces to back board using wood glue and 1 1/4″ finish nails.
Be sure to place to finish nails off center to leave space for the screw eyes.
Step 2: Predrill holes at center of wood blocks for screw eyes. Then screw eyes into place.
Step 3: Cut leather strips using a self healing mat and box knife. Secure leather strip to plywood using 3/4″ lath screws.
Step 4: Slide dowel through screw eye, paper roll and other screw eye then feed paper down under leather strips. Hang and enjoy!

This is such a great idea! How much did the materials cost?
