best diy builds of 2014
We’ve reached the end of 2014 and I’m looking back and rounding up the best builds of 2014.
This wood planked quilt wall art is a favorite of mine and readers. It’s a Pottery Barn knock off that you can easily replicate – full tutorial here.
My pipe and wood slats bed gets a lot of attention for its unconventional look and feel. My son still sleeps in this bed every night and I love the industrial charm. See how to make this bed here.
This sliding barn door console took me by surprise winning round one of the Creating With the Stars series last Spring. The hardware is the key here and I made the track and supports using basic supplies from Home Depot, see how to here.
A handsome nightstand for my son. A simple build with a little cabin feel, all the details here.
This coffee table was by request from a friend and happens to be a reader favorite. The drawer is a great addition and requires no track hardware, see how to build it here.
This past summer I built this poster bed and my life has never been the same. It’s a real, grown-up, solid, beautiful build that I cherish. This is why I diy. Link to plans and all the build details here.
Another build that has changed our organizational lives is this entry console. We have a teeny tiny mudroom area and this console holds all the basics: shoes, gloves, hats and a drawer for each kid’s small bits and pieces. Definitely worth checking out this build.
A craft island for a friend’s basement work area. I built this for her kids craft space with four towers and a large workspace, see how here.
A true testament to the power of collaboration these wood stars continue to be one of the most pinned build projects. I worked with fellow diyer Jamison at Rogue Engineer who came up with plans for these stars while I made a special wedge jig to complete the project. Get all the details here.
I modified one of Ana White’s plans to make this x base table with a circular top to fit our Living Room. See how to here.
Part of the Handmade Holiday series I did with Ana White this diy wagon is perfect for kids and grown ups. Everyone needs storage and this is an easy build that almost anyone can do. Link to plans and build details here.
Necessity is the motherhood of all invention and when you want a squarish table that seats 10 you build your own! Again I had Ana make the plans for this trestle dining table, see all the details here.
Cheers to 2015 and all it has in store!

Wow wow wow! I'm so inspired by you (as I always am). I love all of your projects and there were a few I missed.
But some of them were fun to revisit, too. =)
Here's to 2015

The craft island is amazing! This is something I have envisioned in my head for my art studio, only longer for classes!!!
Would it be possible to make it into a 6ft table?
